New Studio: Bird Break-In

After shlepping the last of my tools from Flux Work Studio back uptown, I opened the door to the new IMK Jewelry Studio to start setting up and was surprised by a sparrow!

She flew in through the valve in a 6″ duct that used to be connected to a clothes dryer and that I had propped open to let in some air.  I opened the door so she could fly out through the lobby but instead she flew up the stairs!  So Robert, the doorman, opened a bunch of windows in the upper stairwells and she got out.

I think it was a good omen.

Flux Work Studio, Brooklyn – See You Later

For the past few months I’ve been working partly out of Flux Work Studio, a collective jewelry studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, run by Elizabeth Thompson of Elizabeth Knight.

I have learned a lot of new techniques and tips from the talented jewelers who work there.

Some of the designers at Flux Work Studio:
Megan Isaacs, Elizabeth Knight, ShinYi Chiang.

On Halloween I packed up my workspace at Flux because I am setting up a new studio uptown, which I will post about soon!

Also, one day this dog Noah was there.

Wow, so far this blog seems half about jewelry, half about dogs!
