Success on Kickstarter!
December 4th, 2011I am very happy and relieved to report that my Kickstarter project to expand my Upper East Side Jewelry Collection was successful, raising 134% of my $5,000 goal!
I am very grateful to my friends, family and the Kickstarter backers whom I did not know, who enabled the project’s success.
Thanks to them I am now busy designing and preparing to order professional custom Rebecca Schiffman Jewelry packaging and business cards, ordering some much needed tools, and preparing their rewards to send to them.
If you missed the Kickstarter deadline, pieces are now available for order on my new online store!

This exhibition was a national call juried by Sienna Patti (Sienna Gallery, Lenox, MA) and local design team Joseph Ferriso and Jonathan Anzalone of Anzfer Farms. Conspicuous is a collaborative exhibition with Anzfer Farms who will respond to the featured jewelry by creating interactive, custom displays for showcasing the work in a personal setting, with an interest in exploring these objects as a visual experience, and the role played when they are taken out of a functional context.”

TAR Magazine Shoot
January 17th, 2011The fall 2010 issue of TAR Magazine is out now.
Recently, I got to reunite with the main cast of Guild & Greyshkul Gallery (if it had been an office sitcom which ran for five years) to make this fashion photo shoot happen. This spread features six rather mysterious photos but so much work and fun and work that I can’t describe went into them behind the scenes. And I was only there for a portion of the work and fun.
Sara Vanderbeek took the photos. Johannes Vanderbeek made the masks. Anya Kielar did the hair, makeup, body paint, and plaster cast (on me! I was the model) and all three of them built the sets. And, Esme Watanabe produced the shoot and assisted in styling.
Here are the two pics which feature pieces I made for my line IMK Jewelry. The IMK Circle Vest goes really well with the Lake & Stars bustier if I do say so myself!
New Studio: Bird Break-In
November 22nd, 2010After shlepping the last of my tools from Flux Work Studio back uptown, I opened the door to the new IMK Jewelry Studio to start setting up and was surprised by a sparrow!

She flew in through the valve in a 6″ duct that used to be connected to a clothes dryer and that I had propped open to let in some air. I opened the door so she could fly out through the lobby but instead she flew up the stairs! So Robert, the doorman, opened a bunch of windows in the upper stairwells and she got out.
I think it was a good omen.
Inspiration: Françoise Hardy
November 12th, 2010Paco Rabanne‘s iconic linked dresses are (obviously) a big inspiration for me, so I was extremely pleasantly surprised when I only recently discovered that singer-songwriter Françoise Hardy was featured on the cover of Rabanne’s biography, and was a huge fan of his.
Françoise Hardy was my first, and for a long time, only female influence as a singer-songwriter. I admired her unaffected charmp and aspired to her beautiful music and lyrics. So now, having exhaustively google-image-searched her, I am in awe of her personal fashion style throughout her entire career!
Here are a ton of pictures!
Flux Work Studio, Brooklyn – See You Later
November 2nd, 2010For the past few months I’ve been working partly out of Flux Work Studio, a collective jewelry studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, run by Elizabeth Thompson of Elizabeth Knight.
I have learned a lot of new techniques and tips from the talented jewelers who work there.
Some of the designers at Flux Work Studio:
Megan Isaacs, Elizabeth Knight, ShinYi Chiang.
On Halloween I packed up my workspace at Flux because I am setting up a new studio uptown, which I will post about soon!
Also, one day this dog Noah was there.
Wow, so far this blog seems half about jewelry, half about dogs!
